Welcome

Welcome to the home of the Marion County Water Garden Society. We are a club for those that have or want to have a water garden, koi pond, or any of the many other water features that are added to the landscapes today. We are mainly for the do-it-yourself people who have built their own and maintain it themselves. This club does not exclude those who have ponds that were built by contractors. We're here to show them how they can cut the cost of maintaining it by doing it themselves.

We refer to ourselves as Pondaholics. "What is a Pondaholic?", you ask. A Pondaholic is a person who loves ponds so much that they either have to have one or they frequently visit some one who has one. They are addicted to ponds. My name is Scott and I'm a Pondaholic.

Marion County Water Garden Society is a club formed in Ocala, Florida for Ocala and Marion county. It is also for anyone who lives in any of the surrounding counties. It doesn't matter whether your pond is above ground or in-ground, preformed or liner, 10 gallons or 10,000 gallons, this is a club for you.

This club also has a Yahoo!Group and a forum. The Yahoo!Group is for those people who want to be part of the club but can't or don't want to attend a physical meeting. Either of these two are for anyone to join, whether you are in Ocala, Florida, North America, or anywhere around the world. The club, however, is only for those in Marion and surrounding counties in Florida. You might say,"Hey, I'm a member of another club." That's fine with me. If you are a one club person, by all means, stay with that club. We are not out to "steal" members from other water garden or any other type of pond clubs. Matter-of-fact, there may be times when this club is visiting another club's event. One club in particular that is a great club is Gainesville Koi Club in Alachua county. That club is made up of some great people. They are a little over my head when they talk about koi but I'm a plant person.

This club does have rules. They can be found on the Terms and Conditions page. The one thing that I would like to emphasize here is you do not have to sign up to be a member. There are no applications here. How do you become a member? Just show up at one of our meetings. The meetings aren't formal, they are just a gathering of a group of people with similar interests. You will find the meetings either posted on the Events page or in the forum.

As mentioned above, this club has a forum. Well, there are three set up at this time for evaluations. You can check out each one and let me know by email which one that you like. The old button will now lead you to a whole different page with all three links. Please be part of this decision.

As this club grows, so will this website. There will be a plant library, a market place for club merchandise, and articles about meetings, special gatherings, and water garden and club related reports.
